Honestamente al principio del torneo no creí que fuera a ganarlo, ya que no había podido entrenar mucho durante todo el año por la universidad, fue en Diciembre cuando después del Metropolitano empecé a preparme tanto para el juvenil como para JDN. Mi objetivo principal solo era dar mi mejor esfuerzo en cada partida demostrar carácter y oficio. No fue sino hasta la ronda 5 que empecé a soñar, vi que estaba jugando bien y pensé que tal vez lo podría ganar.
¿Qué representa este título, qué valor tiene?
Este titulo representa mucho, era un torneo un poco diferente a todos los demás de categorías que había jugado, hace un par de años me figuraba siempre entre los favoritos y bueno por diversas razones nunca lo pude ganar; en este era el preclasificado 9 y probablemente muy pocos pensaban que lo ganaría.
Estás clasificado para la final absoluta del 2010, ¿cómo piensas afrontar este reto y qué objetivos tienes para la misma?
Para la final voy a empezar a entrenar duro desde ahora, he visto que si uno trabaja con seriedad, oficio y entrega las cosas vienen por si solas; estoy consiente que pensar en llegar a ser campeón nacional es un poco irrealista mas no imposible. En ese torneo al igual que el juvenil voy a intentar dar lo mejor de mi y la posición en la que quede va ser irrelevante. Tengo metas mas grandes que un simple torneo...
¿Qué piensas de esta nueva modalidad de clasificación para la final absoluta?
El sistema es nuevo y tendrá que hacérsele algunas modificaciones, pero todo es parte de un proceso que veo bien encaminado; por supuesto y como ya es de costumbre en nuestro medio habrá gente en desacuerdo, pero no se les puede quedar bien a todos...
¿Te ves en la selección nacional mayor?
Mi meta en la final es la selección mayor, va ser muy muy difícil, pero desde ya lo visualizo y sé que si sigo trabajando como he trabajado estos dos meses lo voy a lograr.
Háblanos un poco sobre Juan Zhang
Fue mi tio el que me enseño a mover las piezas a los 9 años aproximadamente, ya a los 12 por medio de un vecino llegue al club de Goicoechea.
¿Cómo te describirías?
Bueno los que me conocen saben que me gusta reírme y hacer reir a los demás, me considero un tipo tranquilo que siente una pasión por los deportes y que disfruta al máximo practicándolos (aunque no sea muy bueno). Trato siempre de razonar cada cosa que hago, pensar siempre con la cabeza fría.
Finalmente, un mensaje para los jóvenes ajedrecistas del país.
